012-book-of-changes

In 2010 I held a residency at a pottery workshop in Jingdezhen, China. During this residency I made 64 porcelain plates marked with signs from the book of  I-Ching .

The ancient knowledge of the "Book of Changes" (I-Ching book), is the origin of many pacifist schools of thought. Meanings are based on the balance between Yin and Yang, receptivity and power.

Food is served on these plates, from which participants can choose and eat, revealing the symbol painted upon it.

In these times of crisis – economic, and environmental and socio cultural, aspects of These Teachings can be adopted as models for contemporary Non violent conflict resolution.
